Sailing Holidays Minorca

In all my years of sailing the Balearics Islands I did  not manage to get to Minorca, or is it Menoca, not until last year when we competed in the Panerai Classic Yacht regatta, based in Mahon.  – what a beautiful island...

Quieter that Ibiza and Mallorca, Minorca is steeped in history and the beaches and bays are truly amazing.  E-mail me and I’ll run through a few sailing options for you to enjoy a week or two sailing aboard “Zillaine” – 1961 a classic sailing yacht for charter with me as your skipper.

Minorca is the quietest island in the Balearics - a fantastic sailing area.

Nelson was based here and quite a few battles happened right here. One was The Battle of Minorca

In fact this is where the word "mayonnaise" was created - not one of our finest battles and resulted in The Admiralty recalling Admiral John Byng for "failure to do his utmost" to relieve the siege of the British garrison on Minorca. He was court martialled and sentenced to death - he was shot by his own crew aboard his ship HMS Monarch in Plymouth 14 March 1757.

So loads of history - but what about the sailing...you just have to come and see for yourself.

This is one of the few places left where you can drop anchor in beautiful bays, take the tender and explore the rivers and see turtles swimming.

A truly relaxing island to sail aboard a classic yacht to charter - just for you.
